SPIRAL ELEVATORS
The spiral elevator is the perfect solution for moving a product upwards while simultaneously treating it thermally in very small spaces.
Operating principle
The conveyor surface is a rising helicoidal trough, or rather a spiral with a constant pitch. The width of the trough is determined by the difference between the helicoid’s external and internal diameter.
The product moves upwards on the conveyor by means of an oscillating thrust movement with controlled frequency and amplitude, and the direction is inclined in order to throw the product upwards.
The advantages of this solution are:
- very small layout space;
- thermal treatments while the product is on the conveyor (heating, cooling, drying, curing, etc.);
- speed on the conveyor path can be optimised to guarantee the desired residence time by changing the oscillating mode of the machine;
- practically no maintenance;
- the possibility of completely isolating the product from the surrounding environment (noise, pollution, energy recovery, etc.) with a dedicated containment structure.
The applications are countless, for example:
- cooling plastic granules after extrusion and screening;
- treating rubber after polymerisation;
- cooling scrap metal (swarf, shavings, …) after oven treatment to eliminate oily residue;
- thermal treatment of food products.
